THE Sodbury Players are building up steam for their latest production – a stage version of the Ealing comedy classic The Titfield Thunderbolt.
Members of the cast even paid a visit to the Warmley signal box to promote the production, which opens on September 16 and runs for four nights in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall.
In Philip Goulding’s adaptation, the character of Lady Edna Chesterford has been introduced to help the vicar, the Rev Weech, lead a campaign to buy their village railway branch line and save it from the axe.
But they have to convince the authorities that a group of amateurs can run a train and compete with a rival bus service.
Director Rob Creer said: “The Titfield Thunderbolt evokes the fun and free feeling of the 1950s film, while being a fantastic challenge for the cast and crew.”
Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets can be booked online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/sodburyplayers.
