A charity cycle ride that has become popular nationally is getting ready for its sixth year this summer.

The Saddleback Sodbury Sportive on Sunday 13 August has enjoyed positive reviews in a number of top cycling magazines.

The number of riders has grown steadily each year from 378 in the first event in 2012 to 1,000 at last years fifth Sportive.

Event organiser Stuart Bennett, “The sportive is for everyone as it offers three routes to choose from; 30, 60 or 100 miles. A friendly atmosphere combined with great camaraderie on all the routes and back at the event HQ has made it into an event enjoyed by everyone.’

The event is run entirely by volunteers with 100% of the profits going to charities and good causes.  Last year the event raised just under £25,000.

Cyclists who complete the course can also look forward to the chance to relax with a pasty and a pint and listen to live music at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club.
