Sodbury Town Council says the move into new premises on the High Street in Chipping Sodbury has gone well.

Sodbury Town Council says the move into new premises on the High Street in Chipping Sodbury has gone well.
In a nod to the history of the property, the council named the building, at 26 the High Street, ’The Old Reading Rooms’. Records show that the building is of late medieval origins and was once the sight of the Weavers Guild. In the late 19th Century the building was presented to the town by Mr F. Fox as an Institute and Reading Room, which became part of the national 19th century movement to encourage literacy among the working classes.
‘We are glad that this property is back in the council’s ownership and therefore an asset to the town’, said Town Council Chair Mayor Wendy Whittle. “It has been tastefully refurbished and has one large room that we can hold our meetings”.
The office is normally open from 09.30-12.30 Monday to Thursday.
