The Armadillo Youth Venue and Café is to start work on a garden in its grounds, after securing £5,000 from the local Tesco supermarket.

The money was secured after coming out on top in a community vote at the store at Yate Shopping Centre.

Plans for the garden involve artificial grass, football goals and colourful planting boxes with fruit trees and vegetables.  Local suppliers have approached the venue and offered their services, with work on the garden to begin soon.

Carene Whiting-Hays, the Armadillo’s Operations Manager said; :This will be a community garden to be enjoyed by all.  The venue attracts many different age groups from the community and it our aim to make a vibrant and colourful space that will enrich the community.”

“All the staff and young people at the Armadillo would like to thank the community for all their contribution and help in making this happen.”
