A PROGRAMME of visiting speakers for the rest of the year has been drawn up by the recently formed Macular Support Group in Chipping Sodbury.
The group was set up for people with macular degeneration, an eye condition that affects the central vision and which is thought to be the commonest cause of sight loss in the UK.
Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club helped organise initial meetings but the aim is for the group to become self-supporting, with members now taking on various roles.
Meetings take place on the third Monday of every month from 1.30pm-3.30pm at the Old Grammar School in High Street, with health professionals and people with macular disease among guest speakers.
The next talk, to be given by Wendy Fillingham on October 17, will be on the topic of being deaf and blind.
Vivienne Mills, of the charity Action for Blind People, will be the guest on November 21, while the last meeting of the year, on December 19, will include a Christmas party.
