Teenager punched in face by 'intoxicated' man on bus
POLICE want to trace this man after a teenage boy was hit in the face 'multiple times' on a bus travelling from Staple Hill towards Yate.
The 15-year-old victim needed hospital treatment after the attack on the Y5 service from Bristol to Yate and Chipping Sodbury, which happened on April 12 at about 7pm between Staple Hill and Pucklechurch, where the attacker was ordered off the bus.
Avon and Somerset police say the boy is now recovering at home but still needs treatment for his injuries.
The force today published CCTV pictures from the bus of a man they want to trace.
A police spokesperson said: "The victim was approached by a man who appeared intoxicated and demanded money.
"When the victim refused, the man struck him to the face multiple times, causing facial injuries which required hospital treatment.
"The offender got off the bus in the Shortwood Road area of Pucklechurch after the driver ordered him to leave."
Police say the man they want to trace is white, in his 30s and of medium build, with short dark hair.
At the time of the attack he was wearing a dark jacket, a light buttoned-up shirt, blue jeans and dark shoes. He was carrying a dark holdall or gym bag and a plastic carrier bag.
Anyone who recognises the man in the pictures or was travelling on the bus at the time and witnessed the incident should call the police on 101 and quote the crime reference number 5222 086 969.
The Y5 passes through Eastville, Fishponds and Staple Hill before heading to Pucklechurch, Westerleigh, Yate and Chipping Sodbury.
