Third girl is targeted by pervert who touches feet

POLICE trying to trace a man molesting girls by touching their feet are investigating a third assault, this time in Chipping Sodbury.

Officers say an incident on May 26 where a man accosted a girl in Robin Way, Chipping Sodbury, at about 3.15pm bears similarities to earlier incidents in nearby Slimbridge Close and Abbotswood, in Yate, where girls were "inappropriately touched".

Avon and Somerset said: "The three girls are aged between 10 and 15 and on each occasion the man has touched the children’s shoes or feet without their permission."

The force confirmed to the Voice last month that the first two incidents were being investigated as sexual assault by touching.

Police have reissued an e-fit picture based on the description given by the victim in the first incident, which happened in Slimbridge Close on January 14 at about 4pm.

The second incident, in an underpass near Abbotswood, happened at 4.30pm on March 21.

A spokesperson said officers were "keeping an open mind" as to whether the same person is responsible for all three attacks, which have taken place within a mile of each other in the south of Yate and Sodbury.

The victim of the first incident described the man as white, in his 20s and about 5ft 9in tall, with blond hair.

He was wearing a light red, blue and white block colour coat, dark trousers and blue trainers at the time.

The spokesperson said: "Following the earlier appeal we’ve been grateful for a number of calls with information, which are all being assessed and followed up.

"Officers continue to carry out targeted patrols in Yate and Chipping Sodbury, and have contacted local secondary schools to make sure children and their parents and carers were aware of the issue."

Anyone who recognises the man in the e-fit picture or has information they believe could help the police investigation should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5222 011 047 for the Slimbridge Close incident, 5222 067 867 for the Abbotswood incident or 5222 125 160 for the Robin Way incident.
