TWO companies are celebrating after receiving Queens Awards for Enterprise.
Precision Dippings Manufacturing, of Yate, has been recognised in the category for innovation after developing waterproof covers for plaster casts.
The Bloccs protectors made at the Stover Trading Estate site are self-sealing, re-usable and allow injured people to shower, bathe or swim.
The waterproofing know-how it applied to the covers came from its experience in making watertight seals for marine dry suits and rubber components for medical equipment.
An award in the international trade section has been given to Calnet Systems of Iron Acton, which trades as British Corner Shop, the online supermarket for British ex-pats and others seeking particular British products.
The company supplies 10,000 British brands - from Marmite and Heinz baked beans to PG Tips and Cadbury chocolate - to ex-pats in 138 countries, earning the award for its outstanding growth in overseas sales over the last three years.
Peter Howarth, the company’s technical director, said: “To receive such a prestigious award is a real testament to the hard work that the whole team has put in over the last decade.”
Europe has been a strong market for the company but it said the United States and China were also providing increasing business.
