TWO trains hit cabinet doors in Chipping Sodbury railway tunnel after they had been left unsecured.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch said the location cabinet doors had been drawn towards the track by the aerodynamic effects of the passing trains.

No-one was hurt in the incident but the trains suffered some external damage.

A preliminary examination was carried out to establish whether a full investigation should be launched into the incident, which happened in the early evening of February 20.

But the board has now announced that having assessed the evidence which had been gathered to date, it had decided to publish a safety digest rather than carry out a full investigation.
