Trust takeover of Tyndale Primary School confirmed
A YATE primary school has joined an academy trust which already runs two other schools in the town.
Plans for Tyndale Primary School to join the Greenshaw Learning Trust, which counts Yate Academy and Woodlands Primary among its schools, were announced three months ago.
The primary in Tyndale Avenue was put into special measures last year after an inadequate rating from Ofsted inspectors.
Confirming the move, Greenshaw Learning Trust chair Mike Cooper said: "We are delighted that Tyndale Primary School has joined the Greenshaw family of schools.
“The values and ethos of Tyndale Primary School match those of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, and the Trust has the experience and capacity to provide the support the school needs as it continues its journey of improvement."
Following consultation with the school’s community and the necessary checks by the Greenshaw Learning Trust, the Department for Education and South Gloucestershire Council, the school’s governing body decided to become an academy and join the trust in May.
The school will have a new uniform and badge for the start of the new academic year in September.
The Greenshaw Learning Trust is an established and successful multi-academy trust with primary and secondary schools in South London, Berkshire, South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire.
Before the move was announced Tyndale chair of governors Mel Loveder said it would “enable Tyndale to collaborate more closely with like-minded schools” and bring new support.
