UWE Student wins art prize
A student from the University of the West of England has won a local art prize.
Post-graduate student Emily Ketteringham won £1,000 from The Arts Society Severn Valley.
Emily is currently studying for an MA in Design. As part of this she wanted to develop her concept of concrete pebbles with the aim of adding fibre optics so they light up when they are handled. The prize was to be used to pay for her materials.
Pucklechurch Young Offenders Institution, where the grant was used to provide art classes and the Barbara Russell Ward at Frenchay Hospital where the grant was used to decorate one of the walls, were some of the previous recipients of the prize.
The Arts Society Severn Valley is one of the member societies of The Arts Society and meets in Chipping Sodbury.
