MORE volunteers are needed to help with the annual Victorian Day in Chipping Sodbury.

Last year’s event was switched from the traditional Friday to Saturday, a move that proved to be a success, despite initial doubts.

Alice Hobbs, of Swagger Unique and part of the organising team, said: “We were surprised at the level of negative feedback we received when we announced the day change,.

“However, lots of positive feedback afterwards from local families proved that the public enjoyed being able to make a day of the event instead of having to rush out after work on a Friday.”

High footfall throughout the day and evening last year has now given the organisers hope that this year’s event, to be held on Saturday, December 2, will be just as successful.

The Victorian Day committee, a mix of local traders, Lions and Rotary Club members, are calling on local people to help with the planning and at the event itself.

Anyone interested in knowing more or getting involved is invited to a meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 18, at 2pm at the Sodbury Town Council offices, High Street. Alternatively, email victorianday2015@hotmail.com with offers of help.
