Woman injured in Yate dog attack

POLICE are trying to trace the owner of a dog which attacked a woman in Yate.

The victim suffered a bite and scratches to her skin, and had her clothing ripped when the dog jumped up at her on Greenways Road, above, between Wiltshire Avenue and Carmarthen Close, an Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said.

The dog, described as a golden collie – a cross between a border collie and a golden retriever – was with a man who was described as being white, in his 50s, bald and of large build. He was around 5ft 7in tall and was wearing glasses.

Police have started a poster campaign in the area calling for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 12.30pm on June 23, to contact them.

Anyone who recognises the description of the man or the dog, or who believes they may have seen the incident, should call 101, quoting crime reference number 5219 141 792.
