CSRC Ladies continued their stellar start to the season with a win over Old Bristolians.
Dominating from the kick off Sodbury Ladies continuously threatened the away sides try line for much of the first half. Their persistence was rewarded after just 4 minutes when hooker Aileen O’Connell dived over to register Sodbury’s first try of the afternoon, which was converted by prop Michelle Deverill.
Gayle Dodson, playing out of position, was next to score but her try in the corner was unconverted leaving the home side 12-0 up at the break.
Sodbury, having enjoyed the majority of possession made several changes in the forwards at half time. Scrummaging and tackling by both sides was impressive throughout, however it was the home side that continued to dominate and they ran in a further three unanswered tries in the second period.
From the half time kick off a driving maul allowed Number 8 Amy Brooks to crash over the line and Sodbury found themselves 17-0 ahead.
Sub Rebecca Parkhill came on in the second half at fullback and within minutes used her outstanding pace to weave through the Bristolian defence to score under the posts. Deverill converted the try.
The final try of the game resulted from some excellent forwards play with scrum half Tina Best stealing the ball to regain possession. The ball was fed through the hands to Paige Muxworthy at Fly Half to score and she converted the try herself leaving the final score at 31-0.
