Yate Town faced a difficult start to November with matches against sixth placed Evesham United and third placed Swindon Supermarine on the opening two Saturdays.

The match at Evesham saw Yate welcome several new faces, with Andy Elcock being brought in from Paulton Rovers and promising defender Sam Blake joining on loan from Bristol Rovers. Evesham enjoyed the majority of early possession, however it was Yate who took the lead after half an hour when Ben Brooks tapped in with the home keeper stranded.

The pressure on Yate increased when they were reduced to ten men when defender Mayson Evans received a second yellow. Town continued to defend well with ‘keeper Harvey Rivers making some outstanding saves, particularly from the highly regarded Lewis Powell.  Evesham eventually equalised in the 84th minute. Jordan Bryan’s cross was headed home by substitute Carl Brown that meant that Yate had to settle for a point after a battling performance.

Following the postponement of their GFA Cup match against Bishops Cleeve Yate’s next game was at Lodge Road against a Supermarine side that had won their previous three league matches.

The visitors were unlucky with two first half efforts that hit the post. Supermarine were unable to break down the home defence and Yate gradually begun to look more dangerous. The match appeared to be heading for a goalless draw until Yate scored two late goals in an exciting finale.

In the 87th minute the referee awarded a penalty to Town for handball that Steve Davies netted. Two minutes later Davies collected the ball wide and cut inside before curling a shot into the top corner to seal a win which saw Yate continue their climb up the table.
