Yate man charged over armed robberies at fast food restaurants

A YATE man has been charged with robbing the town's branches of fast food restaurants Miss Millie’s and McDonald’s.

Rudi Batten, of Station Road, was charged with two counts of robbery this morning by Avon and Somerset police.

The 22-year-old suspect was being held in custody ahead of an appearance before Bristol Magistrates Court which was due to take place before the end of the day.

The charges relate to incidents at Miss Millie’s in North Parade on Sunday evening and McDonald’s in West Walk yesterday morning.

Nobody was injured in either incident.

A police spokesperson said: "Additional patrols are being carried out and we’d urge anyone who has concerns to speak with one of those officers or to contact the neighbourhood team on 101.

"We’d also like to thank all those who have provided information to help with our enquiries so far."
