A young motorbike racer from Yate has shown his potential, clinching 5th place in the latest round of the British Superbike Championship after qualifying in 17th place.

22 year old Luke Hedger, who rides for the PR Racing Lloyd & Jones Bowker BMW team impressed onlookers at Snetterton in Norfolk in round 4 of the championship.

17th place on the grid was down to traffic during qualifying, but Hedger had a great start and was in 10th place after the first lap.

By the half way point Hedger had fought his way up to 4th place, but dropped down to fifth by then end of the race, a satisfying end to the race after his disappointment in qualifying.

Hedger says the race has given him confidence ahead of round 5 in Scotland’s Knockhill in July: “I had a tough start during practice and qualifying but the boys worked hard, and gave me a great package today. I’m definitely getting more comfortable and confident with the BMW. Coming from 17th on the grid to finish 5th was mega.”
