Yate RFC now 5 from 5 in the league

November 19 2019

YATE RFC kept their 100% winning record in Wadworths Bristol and District league 2 intact when they travelled to Bristol Saracens.

A hat-trick of tries from Evan Demonick, a brace from James Cannon and Craig Archer, a try a piece for James Falconer, Jordan Hawker and Liam Summerville with the rest of the points coming from the trusted boot of James Cannon saw a 71-24 victory.

Yate are now nine points clear of second place after five matches.

With a single away game to North Bristol RFC and three home games to Bishopston RFC, Cotham Park RFC and Thornbury RFC before the New Year they will hope to put more distance between themselves and the chasing pack.

The weekend of November 9-10 saw great rugby and social activity at the fledgling club.

The junior section, which continues to thrive, saw an under 9 fixture against Broad Plain RFC and large numbers of minis playing tag rugby. The skill on show in the junior sections from both teams shows that some excellent coaching is going on as well as teaching respect and teamwork to all the children involved.

The senior side also had 6 players run the Sodbury Slog on Sunday 10th November 10, then several of the senior side attended an awards night dinner for HMP Ashfield, at Ashton Gate, where the club’s senior playing member Mark Summerville received an Annual Leadership award.
