Youngsters get close to nature during activity day in ancient woodlands

MORE than 100 members of Rainbow, Brownie and Guide groups from across South Gloucestershire joined an activity day in the Lower Woods nature reserve.

MORE than 100 members of Rainbow, Brownie and Guide groups from across South Gloucestershire joined an activity day in the Lower Woods nature reserve.
The event was organised by the South Cotswold Girl Guiding Division, which runs 33 units in an area that includes Yate and Chipping Sodbury.
Ancient Lower Woods on Inglestone Common, near Wickwar, are managed by the  Gloucestershire and Avon Wildlife Trusts.
During the day, the girls went on a nature scavenger trail, tried stream dipping and woodland craft, as well as enjoying a picnic.
The event also raised £635 for the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
